Network & Communication Services

Networking & Communication Services provides support for the University’s servers, data network, campus cabling and fiber plant and the telephone system. Networking & Communication Services is also responsible for the administration, maintenance, operation and security of the university’s central computing infrastructure, such as the data center and servers as well as the services these systems provide to the university community.

The Drake University network provides students, faculty, staff and visitors with access to a rich array of campus and Internet-based services and applications via a 1 Gbps network backbone running throughout the campus. Each faculty office has a 100mb connection to the Ethernet network. Access to the network is governed by our Acceptable Use of Computer Technology Policy for Students and our Acceptable Use of Computer Technology Policy for Faculty/Staff. To permit us to manage the accessibility of our equipment and networked services, a username and password is issued for all students, faculty and staff upon enrollment or employment.

Any faculty, staff or student with an active Drake username and password can self-register a non-Drake owned computer on the Drake wireless network by visiting the Drake connection wizard.  For assistance in network access, contact the Support Desk at x3100 or your College IT staff support.
