Accounts & Passwords: Information about accessing accounts and resetting passwords. Resetting your password solves most problems and is a good first troubleshooting step if you are unable to login.

Backup Services: OIT offers backup services to Drake owned desktops and laptops using Retrospect to copy your local profile on both Windows and Mac PCs. In order to be backed up successfully, each desktop or laptop must be connected to the Drake wired network.

Blackboard – Faculty: Information for Faculty about our Learning Management System (LMS) Blackboard v8.0.

Blackboard – Students: Information for Students about our Learning Management System (LMS) Blackboard v8.0. Blackboard (BB) is an online learning site used in conjunction with many Drake classes.

Bluemobile: Mobile Application for installing on IOS and Android devices.

blueSpace Drive: Bluespace provides digital storage “in the cloud” which is accessible via any web browser or the desktop drive. The desktop drive functions much like a USB memory drive would. If you would like to request the drive please click here.

blueView Portal: The blueView portal provides single sign-on access to a host of information and services. BlueView is the online destination for announcements, news, and events as well as tools to take care of business at Drake.  You can sign on and check email, view class schedule and grades, register for classes, access your Blackboard courses and view announcements.  You can also make payments online through blueView.

Before you can login to blueView you are required to change your initial password via the Drake Password Gateway http://password.drake.edu by following these steps:

  1. Enter your Drake ID (9 digits noted above) and your password (provided in admission info)
  2. Select and enter responses for each of the three security questions.  These questions are used to verify your identity during future trips to the password gateway for password changes.
  3. Change your password.  You will need to enter your new password twice.

Classroom Technology: All classrooms on campus have wireless internet access. In addition a variety of classrooms are equipped with instructional technologies such as; computer projection, DVD players, and streaming audio and video.

Computer Purchases – Departmental: Information about purchasing a computer for official Drake use.

Computer Purchases – Personally owned: Information about discounts on devices that can be purchased for personal (home) use.

Computer Recommendations: Student discounts are available from Dell Computer and Apple Computer. Click the link for computer and computer accessory recommendations.

Email (blueSky): All Drake students are issued email accounts before classes begin. Email is accessible from within blueView and via webmail. In addtion, Our email system blueSky can be setup to work with the Microsoft Outlook and Apple mail desktop programs as well as most mobile devices. Maintenance & Change Calendar: Information about all changes that will be applied to Drake systems. This includes regular maintenance, which typically happens on friday at 4pm.

Mobile Device Support:  Information about which devices will work with the drake system, as well as how to set them up for email contacts and calendar.

Network Registration: Students are entitled to 5 device registrations on the network. If you need to reset your devices or are having trouble with netreg, please contact the support center. In some cases if the registration page does not show up on your device you may need to navigate to it manually at http://netdns2.drake.edu/. Game consoles and TVs can be manually registered on the network and connected via ethernet. Room Scheduling (AdAstra): Information about room availability, AdAstra is used by Drake University to efficiently schedule courses into buildings and rooms as well as to schedule locations for special events and meetings. Please see the classroom matrix to see which room best fits your needs.

Software – Faculty/Staff : Information about software that is available to Drake University Faculty and Staff. This includes information about how to access E-Academy to download copies of Microsoft Office and Sophos for personal use.

Software – Students: All students are eligible for free software, including the latest versions of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) for Macintosh or Windows, and Sophos antivirus. NOTE: it is no longer necessary to stop by the support center to get a cd. Software can be downloaded via E-Academy link from the “IT Support Center tab” within blueview. Support Center: The Support Center provides assistance with passwords, general technology questions, solving software, computer and network related problems. Call or stop by the support center if you have any questions! The support center can be reached at 515 271 3001, and is in the lower level of Carnegie Hall (directly west of Old Main).

Teaching Tools – Faculty: Information about Respondus LockDown Browser, Turning Point Technology ‘clickers’ and other teaching resources.

Voice Related Services: Information about how to access voicemail, make conference calls with your desk phone, and request conference phones for meetings.

VPN Access: To facilitate secure off-campus connectivity to the Drake University network, the Office of Information Technology provides a virtual private network (VPN) connection option for mobile workers.
